Carol has spent the past forty years working in the healthcare field and has dedicated her life to caring for others. As a C.N.A. she worked on El Camino Hospital’s cardiac unit, Los Gatos Community Hospital, and several home health and hospice agencies, as well as at The Women’s Cancer Center in Los Gatos and for a neurology office in other capacities. It is her belief that all those in need of home care should be treated with the same level of dignity and respect that would be provided to a family member, and she has made that the company’s goal.
Jacob has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and over a dozen years of experience working in healthcare, but his passion for working with older adults is rooted in his younger years. He had a close relationship with his grandparents, Marlene, Ron, Shirley and Gene, as well as with his great-grandmother Hazel. His experiences while growing up taught him to respect and delight in the wealth of life experiences that older adults can share, and he attributes his love for his work to what he learned while helping care for Marlene and Ron during the latter stages of their cancer. Since 2008 he has been volunteering as a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Jacob and his wife Michelle have two children, Mason and Adalyn. He also enjoys reading, exercising, and travel.
Marcus has spent the past ten years working in the home care field. A history buff, he values the time he spends just listening to older people share their accumulated wisdom, and particularly loves when they tell stories about living through events that he has studied. Marcus takes pride in his ability to help others get the most out of their life, as well as in providing encouragement to those who are having a tough time. In his free time he enjoys participating in Jujitsu competitions, watching sports, and traveling with his girlfriend Carrie and their dog Christy.

In his free time, James enjoys hiking and backpacking in the Sierras as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Karen is originally from Upstate New York, but has called California her home for the past 14 years. Upon making the move out west, she transitioned into a career in care management. With much of her family experienced in healthcare, working in home care felt like a natural fit. She takes pride in helping our clients stay safe, happy and well cared for in the comfort of home and makes it her number one priority. In her free time, Karen enjoys taking her daughter to local events and continues to have fun exploring all the Bay Area has to offer.
Erika has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Science, and has used it throughout the years providing customer service in a variety of settings. She has a real talent for building relationships, and has particularly enjoyed using it in her work with the elderly community. Her first experience with elder care was when she helped with her great grandmother, who lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years – she found it eye-opening and rewarding, and has continued to find real value in helping patients dealing with a variety of diagnoses. When Erika is not at work, she enjoys hosting jewelry shows with friends, spending time with her husband and daughter in the park, and watching zombie movies.
Sharon holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stanford University and enjoyed a long career in high tech and higher education before coming out of retirement to manage our billing and insurance areas. It was a particularly rewarding experience working as a volunteer, bringing social and community programs into Woodlands Healthcare Center, that drove Sharon to join Family Matters: she believes that even those working in administrative and financial roles have the opportunity and responsibility to serve our client community with excellence and compassion. When she’s not at work, Sharon enjoys baking, spending time with her rescued cat Dina, and volunteering at her church.

If you need assistance with filing, submitting, or processing insurance claims, she’s become quite an expert and will be happy to help! Wendy attributes her dedication to our clients to the countless hours she spent with her much-adored grandmother, to whom she was devoted. She’s a native of San Jose, where she enjoys all that the city has to offer, and especially loves playing tug of war with her dog Maple.
David has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a background working in CPA offices. In his current position of financial assistant he is in charge of payroll, insurance, and billing.
